Women's Evolving Role In The Labor Force

How has female representation in the US labor force evolved over the past 4 decades or so? Census Bureau data published recently shows that women were relatively rare in many elite occupations such as lawyers/judges, accountantsand physicians back in 1970. This has now started to change with the percentage of women involved in legal professions rising from 4.9 percent in 1970 to 33.4 percent between 2006 and 2010.
