L'UNESCO dévoile sa nouvelle stratégie sur le VIH et le SIDA

La Stratégie révisée de l'UNESCO sur le VIH et le SIDA a été lancée le lundi 10 octobre 2011. Elle s'appuie sur la stratégie existante de l'UNESCO visant à promouvoir l'éducation à la prévention du VIH et une réponse complète au VIH et au SIDA dans le monde entier. L'UNESCO est l'une des organisations coparrainantes de l'ONUSIDA, le Programme commun des Nations Unies sur le VIH/sida, et conduit la promotion de réponses complètes du secteur de l'éducation au VIH.

La nouvelle stratégie pour le VIH et le SIDA rapproche la contribution de l'UNESCO des objectifs de l'ONUSIDA soulignés dans la stratégie , et rappelle qu'il est nécessaire d'accélérer l'accès universel à la prévention, au traitement, à la prise en charge et aux soins en matière de VIH. Elle reconnaît que l'épidémie mondiale de SIDA évolue, que les traitements aident les personnes séropositives à vivre plus longtemps et en meilleure santé, et que l'heure est venue d'adopter des approches ciblées, tenant compte du contexte et reposant sur les éléments probants et les bonnes pratiques.

L'Organisation accordera une importance accrue à la prévention du VIH au sein de l'action sanitaire globale et s'emploiera à faire en sorte que tous les garçons et les filles, les jeunes gens et les jeunes femmes, aient accès à une éducation complète au VIH. La stratégie s'inscrit dans le droit fil des activités existantes de l'UNESCO et met en exergue trois domaines prioritaires :

- Construire la capacité des pays à adopter des réponses du secteur de l'éducation au VIH efficaces et durables ;

- Renforcer les programmes complets d'éducation sexuelle et au VIH ;

- Faire progresser l'égalité des sexes et défendre les droits de l'homme.
