“Les directeurs de publication du livre collectif Terror, Terrorism, State & Societies. A Historical and Philosophical Approach aimeraient remercier le Collège international de philosophie, sa revue Rue Descartes no. 62 « Terreurs et terrorismes » (2008) qui lui est complémentaire ainsi que le Calcutta Research Group qui ont co-organisé un colloque sur la terreur et le terrorisme à Paris en 2006, auquel une première version de certains des articles de ce livre doit son origine, avec l’assistance des revues Transeuropéennes à Paris et Naqd à Alger. Ce livre présente des articles variés, originaux et inédits, voulant dépasser les clichés, et jette un regard neuf sur la terreur. Il s’intéresse au fait que la distinction entre différentes formes de violence ait été oblitérée par le terme général de “terrorisme” et par la pratique d’appeler “terroristes” indistinctement des catégories diverses de personnes, ceux qui ont commis des actes individuels ou de groupe graves, éventuellement idéologiques, comme ceux qu’un pouvoir souhaite par avance disqualifier et rendre à l’illégitimité. Il tente de dépasser le huis clos et l’agencement normatif et dichotomique Etat-terroristes en étudiant, à partir d’exemples très divers, la possibilité de traduire la violence.
