GERM announces its latest publication, the collective work :
Europe, Diversité Culturelle et Mondialisations,
(Europe, Cultural Diversity and Globalisations)
Papers of the University of Globalisations (vol. 1),
Parc de la Villette, Paris, 2003
Coordinated by François de Bernard
"Cultural diversity" is referred to at any time and without any critical approach, and undergoes an ever-growing verbal inflation. Facing the mercantile exploitation of this concept, our collective work wants to stand as a place for inventory, analysis, confrontation and proposal making, aiming at building links between the research achievements on globalisations and the new political, economical, social and philosophical issues arising from those achievements. This book is meant for cultural, educational and social action professionals as well as scholars, researchers and for all citizens.
Europe, Diversité culturelle et mondialisations offers a selection of papers and interventions resulting from a three-day international conference (the University of Globalisations) organised by GERM (Group for study and research on globalisations, www.globalisations.org), and called "Cultural Diversity, globalisation & globalisations". Twenty-one participants propose, through their contributions, a trans-disciplinary approach of the threats which are now hanging over cultural diversity, as well as on the instruments which could help its preservation and promotion, following the efforts undertaken by UNESCO and its Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity (November 2nd, 2001).
