He is the official representative for the General Director of the international cultural relations department at the Foreign office since 1990, and he is responsible for the interministerial mission entitled “Les Nouveaux territoires de l’art” (“The new territories of art” – 2002). He was an adviser for the international cultural cooperation at the Minister of Education (2000-2002), the Director of the AFAA (French Association for Artistic Action), the cultural officer for Southern Italy, and the Director of the French Institute in Naples (1983-1989).
In 1999, he founded the Biarritz film festival (“Terres d’images”) and became the president of the Manosque festival (“Les nuits de la correspondence”). In 2002, he became the president of the Montparnasse Museum and in 2003, the president of the Hors Les Murs association (French national center for the development of street and circus arts).
Jean Digne taught international cultural relations at the Dauphine University (Paris), cultural management at the European Studies Institut (IEE) and at the Arts Department of the University of Paris 8.
