Velázquez García, Teresa

She is a Professor of the Faculty of Communications at the Autonoma University of Barcelona (Spain). She is currently teaching the following courses: research methods and techniques in mass communication and theories of communication. In the past, she taught documentation, theory of information, and semiotics of communication. She is the Director of a research program on cultural studies, focused on the study of production, consumption and reception of the cultural-communicative discourse at the University Department and at the L.A.P.R.E.C, belonging to the Associació per al Progrés de la Comunicació de Barcelona. She has been working on projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture (Madrid). She is the academic coordinator of the postgraduate course "II Curso Iberoamericano de Periodismo y medios de comunicación. Especialización Iberoamericana" (Barcelona, CIPB y CEI). She is the Vice-president of Laboratori de Prospectiva i Recerca en Comunicació i Cultura - Associació per al Progrès de la Comunicació de Barcelona (L.A.P.R.E.C/A.C.P). She is the Coordinator for Spain of the Réseau de Centres Méditérraneens de Formation Multimédia (RCMFM – the net of multimedia training Mediterranean centres, Marseille);
She has also been an editorial board member of the journals “Anàlisi. Quadern de Comunicació i Cultura” (1989-1993) and “Estudios Semióticos” (1983-1988). She is the member of various organisations among which Societat Catalana de Comunicació (Barcelone), Asociación de Investigadores de la Comunicación (Madrid), Asociación Española de Semiótica (Madrid) and International Association for Mass Communication Research (IAMCR-AIERI) (USA).
